Dried Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
Also known as Sweet Root. The root of licorice, cut into about 1/4 in pieces for herbal tea and blending. Licorice, which is native to Southern Europe and parts of Asia, is traditionally chewed for its sweet, soothing pulp. The root of the plant contains glycyrrhizin, a compound that is up to 50 times sweeter than table sugar.
Pairs well with cardamom, turmeric, and ginger.
